Default Frontier Gate Fugitives

Has anyone noticed that what was once an easy quest to do with henchmen is now impossible to do with 4 typical level 20 players. It's not worth the 1000 exp to waste time on. Lining the paths with level 24 Char is instant death.

Do those Charr always show up? I'm pretty sure they're only there if you, or someone in your group, has that quest. I will be doing that quest with my third character soon, so I guess I will see

The level 24 Charr should only show up if you have that Last Days of Dawn quest in your log. (I think...)

huh? Unless they added charr in those area's with the latest update.. you must be going the wrong way. You can get to both of the fugitives without facing 1 Charr - I know, I did it recently (past 1-2 days) as my N/mo (one of the few quests she didn't have trouble with... surprisingly) and all I had to face were hoardes of devourer's..

If your fighting charr then your going the WRONG way. Exit the Fronteir Gate and follow the path south... unless they added charr there in the last update it should be clear... or ... the spawn code is taking your level into consideration and spawning harder critters...

do note my N/Mo was level 11 when I did that mission. Which could explain why your level 20 group faced Charr.. it mght be the game changes what monsters spawn based upon your level, how many in your group, what professions you have, etc.

like for example - doing the Replacement Healer's mission with devona.. the critters in Pockmark Flates in the circle region around the crystal were all Stone elementals... when I go there as my E/Mo or N/Mo without doing that quest I get hoardes of Wind Riders.. while my W/Mo gets Stone Elementals.

so either your going the wrong way, or because your group is 4 level 20 character's... the game is spawning harder monsters for you to face. I'd say it's probably the latter..

Edit - I just ran that path and never saw any charr. so either your going the wrong way or you had another quest active at the time which spawns those charr. I went that way solo with my level 20 W/Mo to see if I'd spawn any Charr, and all I got was the standard Devourer's..

if they spawn harder stuff based on levels...thats sucks for runners. running to piken, and dodging level 20 gargoyles...wow...

Why did they renew the quests we've already done?

Footman Tate is surrounded by Level 24 Char. It doesn't matter which way you enter Eastern Frontier.

I just tested this area with my E/Mo 12 (who obviously has neither ascended nor completed the game, thus would not have the Last Day Dawns quest), as well as my Me/N 20 (who has ascended, but not completed the game). Neither ran into any Charr outside Frontier Gate. Just a bunch of lvl 3 Grawl to the north, and assorted devourers to the south.

My N/Mo 20, who is ascended, has completed the game, and has the LDD quest certainly does encounter lvl 24 Charr, both to the north and south at Frontier Gate.

If you're running into lvl 24 Charr, you or someone in your party has the quest.

Oooh, does anyone in your team have the "Replacement Healers" quest? I ask because that spawnd a group of charr close to where footman Tate is standing... admittidly they aren't lvl 24 charr... but maybe because you/they are level 20 when they got it/doing-it the charr that it spawns is higher? But I'd go with the other's who are talking about the quest "Last Day Dawns", since that's what it sounds like.. I've never gotten the quest so can't comment on/about it.

I just ran to where footman tate is/was with my lvl 20 W/Mo... and there were no Charr there at all. So unless they changed it in the most recent patch... it's likely you or someone in your group has another quest active which spawns charr at around that point.

It all makes sense now. I'll drop the new unfinished quests out my logs and see what happens. I was getting a lot of "WTF"s from lower level quest goers.

It's all clear now. I abandoned the LDD quest and Eastern Frontier was clear of all Char. I was able to complete Frontier Gate Fugitives with no problems. No more WTF.
